College Heights Spring Sale - 2013
Our sale was another great success!
The surrounding community was invited to purchase many products that our student population has built, created or grown during Semester 2.

Our Education Minister Liz Sandals also enjoyed a tour throughout the school along with visitors from the UGDSB, who enjoyed the many sites, sounds, smiles and spring flowers that were on display.
Another great achievement at Heights!

Did You Know That...
Beginning in September 2011, new legislation was implemented that has affected the sale of food in schools. This Ministry mandated nutrition policy allows each school to designate up to 10 special event days during the school year (September –June) when food and beverages sold are exempt from the nutrition standards outlined in the policy. The Principal must consult with the School Council prior to designating any special event days.
Beginning in September 2011, the new School Food and Beverage Policy prohibits the sale of the following food and beverage items in schools (unless they are sold on one of the 10 designated days):
- Candy
- Chocolate bars
- Energy and sports drinks
- Freezies and Popsicles (if not made with 100% juice).
Other items commonly sold in schools such as popcorn, snack chips, and cookies must meet strict standards for fat (trans fat and saturated fat), sodium and sugar content before they can be sold in schools even on a limited basis.
For more information on the new School Food and Beverage Policy check the Ministry’s website: www.ontario.ca/healthyschools or EatRight Ontario at www.ontario/ca/eatright.
